Rachel de Thame's Top 100 Star Plants

British TV-presenter and gardener, Rachel de Thame, known from BBC series Gardener's World and Small Town Gardens has selected 100 of her favourite plants and presents them in this her new book. When faced with the overwhelming number of plants on offer at garden centres and in catalogues, it can be difficult to choose the right plant for your garden. It's even harder to find something that will flourish in a particular spot. In this book, Rachel de Thame selects the very best plants for specific gardening situations. There are 12 categories in all - everything from climbers for a sunny wall and winter flowering shrubs to plants for a tropical effect. Each section features a short introduction to the topic followed by Rachel's plant recommendations - with six to twelve in each category, the reader has plenty of choice without being overwhelmed. Each plant description is written in a chatty, but informative style and includes practical gardening tips. "100 Star Plants" should appeal to beginners and more experienced gardeners alike. Rachel combines fail-safe familiar choices with more unusual options, giving adventurous gardeners a fresh alternative.

Stunningly beautiful. The photos also let the reader see what the plants looks like!

The essential guide to gardening in small spaces.

Really useful book with wonderful and simple ideas.

Small Town Gardens by Rachel de Thame

Rachel de Thame has written a really useful book with wonderful and simple ideas for the small town garden. Practical, manageable and affordable ideas that produce quick results. If you're planning to make use of your urban garden this book is a must have. Rachel de Thame has written a very readable guide complete with practical, manageable, and affordable ideas on how to transform your city garden. All tastes and levels of experience are catered for, with the advice clearly presented, in conjunction with useful case studies. The styles range from the traditional family garden to the minimalist modern. Particularly impressive is the originality of the subject, as too many gardening books cater only for those with an enormous expanse of green. It was refreshing to find a book which sought to dispel the misconception that towns and gardens are incompatible.

Gardeners' World - ‘Explores gardens created by well-known designers and provides a host of inspirational ideas.’

If Titchmarsh did for gardening what Delia did for cooking; de Thame does for gardeners what Nigella did for chefs!

Gardening with the Experts (Rachel de Thame and Phil McCann)

"Britain's Greatest Gardeners" distills the wisdom of Britain's top gardeners, the men and women who look after the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society. The book ties in to a 6-part series on BBC2, presented by Rachel de Thame, and details everything covered in the programme and more besides - from how the experts produce a perfect punnet of strawberries to how they restore their beautiful lawns after thousands of visitors have reduced them to mud. Divided into eight chapters - Roses; Perennials and Grasses; Lawns; Edibles; Water; Climbers; Trees and Shrubs; and Pests, Diseases and Weeds - the book covers the principal aspects of gardening. The text is peppered with RHS know-how tips and each chapter includes a step-by-step masterclass by a top RHS expert covering a practical aspect of gardening.

Actually very well written and would make a beautiful gift.
